The end of Microsoft Social Engagement : or not ? ...

Hello Dynamics Community !

I have to choose my first article, not simple because a lot of articles will coming soon as I have more than 20 articles in my mind…

But my first choice was to give some feedbacks and tips about Social Analyze in Dynamics. As you know a lot of customers spend their times on social medias and it’s clearly a breaking change in digital transformation. Your company has clearly to have an eye on that. You can get also powerful insights based on your brand and communications from your customers. You want maybe to take action, to have a great overview of what your customers wants most or what you will have to adapt and take advantage of this public conversation.


Let’s say you have been from Dynamics CRM world before all these Dynamics 365 Apps. In 2015, it was great to see that Microsoft puts some efforts to bring a great tool to analyze deep social networks conversations. It was very cool (and some customers had enjoyed it when I’ve done some PreSales on that)

Microsoft Social Engagement was a lot of dashboards with some features that was the “begining” of AI ; like Sentiments Analysis . Microsoft provided a lot new connectors release after release.



But on my opinon, the lack was to get back some DATA after that. It was completely a black box inside ! No API, no access of Data Lake behind.

So let’s imagine you wanted to get all these powerful data on your IT system behind and cross some DATA from your CRM it wasn’t possible. Damned !

With the new Common Data Service and these all Dynamics 365 Apps, Microsoft was clearly to put this App off and bring from scratch a completely new App for that.

(Like for Microsoft Dynamics Marketing)

I don’t know if you have seen this information ; or not because Microsoft Social Engagement wasn’t in fact very popular ; but Microsoft Social Engagement will be not be available next year for all customers that used this tool until now.

The date is : 16th of January 2020.




So…. now how to handle that in 1 month…

Well, the first thing that is important to know is that all DATA that you have captured in the past could be requested to the Microsoft Support Team. So the first step before to change with an other tool.

Speaking of which, I want to present you the new tool in Dynamics 365 AI that Microsoft will launch next year (strange coincidence , maybe not !)

AI for Market Insights !

Like you maybe see, Microsoft puts a lot efforts to add Insights in their Dynamics Apps. Like Customer Insights, Sales Insights, Customer Services Insights, now this new AI tool that is currently in Preview.

The features will be on Bing Search and Social Medias to get relevant topics that you want on a Brand and Competitors.

Alert email or Trend Alert will be there to focus on the most important & relevant informations that you need every day.

The tool Market Insights can be used as a Trial just right away, by clicking here !

As a Dynamics 365 Apps, hope that all this DATA captured would be accessible in the Common Data Model so we can take advantage in all cross Dynamics 365 !

And maybe that Microsoft will allow us to get this DATA in the Customer Insights Apps to use it as a measure and some Azure ML prediction based on this DATA captured.

So we really need to watch carefully this new Microsoft product and I think fresh news will appear very soon next year !

Meanwhile, here are some overviews that Microsoft has done :

Let’s say we want to capture specific Hastag ; maybe added some Text Analysis AI before to have a PowerBI Report. Add also an Alert on this PowerBI report by email if the Sentiment is breaking done for the past few hours (this process was the same in fact in Microsoft Social Engagement)

You can do that, yes yes… without any codes :)
Take that sample, connect, put some parameters and let’s do it !!
